Composition and characteristics
Epoxy resin: It is the main film-forming substance of oil-based epoxy mid-coat, with good chemical corrosion resistance, wear resistance and bonding properties. During the curing process, epoxy resin forms a dense network structure, which effectively prevents the penetration of moisture, oxygen and other corrosive media, thus playing an excellent anti-corrosion role.
Mica powder: It is an important filler with a unique flaky structure that can improve the density and mechanical strength of the coating. Mica powder forms a barrier in the coating, effectively blocking the damage of ultraviolet rays, moisture and corrosive substances, and extending the service life of the coating.
Additives and solvents: Additives improve the fluidity, anti-settling and dispersibility of the coating, while solvents help the drying speed of the coating during the construction process and improve production efficiency.
Application scenarios
Oil-based epoxy mid-coat is suitable for a variety of scenarios, including anti-corrosion decoration of heavy machinery, bridges, ships and chemical equipment. Its excellent anti-corrosion performance and good mechanical properties make it perform well in these fields.
Difference from water-based epoxy paint
Oil-based epoxy paint and water-based epoxy paint have significant differences in curing reaction, film-forming form and performance:
Curing reaction: After the two-component material is mixed, the curing agent of oil-based epoxy paint promotes the ring opening of epoxy groups, cross-linking and interconnecting with the oxidized functional groups in the curing agent, forming a multi-dimensional cross-linked structure with higher stability and chemical resistance.
Film-forming form: Oil-based epoxy paint forms a completely closed paint film, which is dense and seamless, effectively preventing the penetration of moisture and oxygen, and enhancing the protective effect and anti-oxidation effect; while water-based epoxy paint has a perforated structure and good air permeability, but this air permeability has no obvious advantage in actual application.
Performance: Oil-based epoxy paint performs better in wear resistance, pressure resistance, impact resistance and chemical resistance, because its dense molecular structure can effectively prevent chemical components from penetrating into the interior.
